Stateside YEAH!
It's been a wonderful 11 days seeing family and friends, familiar places and reliving fond memories. The best part is the furlough is not even half over. Our quick visit reminds us of how quickly time flies. We have been gone over 14 months. So much has happened in our lives, as well as in everyone elses. The best part is that our God remains faithful! He has given us the opportunity to spend some precious time making memories with those who are so important to us. Simply put, the trip expenses are well worth it!
It was exciting to worship with our church family of over 20 years ago in Nashua. New Hampshire on Easter Sunday and enjoy a family dinner celebrating a great granddaughter's birthday. Later in the week we visited with my brother and his wife for a day, and vacationed with our girls and their families in Florida.
Connecting with a new church family in Dayton Beach Florida and sharing what is happening in San Juan de Lurigancho, Peru with a group of Girls in Action was such a neat time for us. The girls were so attentive and asked some really good questions after seeing the DVD we brought with us. These young ladies know that the Lord has plans for them (Jeremiah 29:11) and that to know His plans they must first know HIM! Then they learned that He has created works for them to do (Phillipians 2:10).
Since it is the end of spring break, many vacationers in Florida were heading north and traffic was predicted to be extremely heavy so our two family vehicles packed up and left Orlando at 9:00 p.m. Friday. This allowed the children (6 of them!) to sleep while the adults had conversation and kept one another awake arriving in Georgia shortly after 4:00 a.m. Believe it or not, we are now a day ahead of schedule! :)
We are trully thankful for the safe travels we have had flying from Lima, to Atlanta, to Boston, and on a commuter bus from Boston to Merrimack, NH. Driving in a rental car back to Boston, and facing a cancelled flight to Orlando, but immediately getting rescheduled so our ETA was only 4 hours delayed. Then driving from Orlando to Georgia last night. WHEW!
A daily verse (Proverbs 3:5-6) that we claim is that we are to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, lean not on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths!
