Mission
Our mission is to encourage God’s people in Peru and to assist them in carrying the love of Jesus Christ to their community.
Vision
Our vision is to encourage the local body of believers and to provide them assistance as they share the gospel in their native tongue. It is our heart's desire to work side-by-side with the Christian nationals in their outreach programs (AWANA/OANSA) and to assist in the matriculation of adult women from the orphanage (Hope House) and the shelter (Pat’s Place) to begin independent life in their own community. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Through prayer and counsel with Godly men, He has shown us that the paths our lives have taken, have prepared us for this ministry for this season of our lives. We are amazed at God's grace, His faithfulness, and the power of prayer as we walk with Him. We believe we are only one part of the body necessary for a complete ministry. Ministry is a T.E.A.M. approach - Together Each Achieves More. We are to be united with one vision, Ephesians 4:4-6 “There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all”, and in First Corinthians 12:11-12 “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body.”
We believe the Lord of the harvest wants each of us, not just evangelists, to bring the message of good news to the nations. Our vision is to assist the Peruvian Christians in this effort with encouragement spiritually, physically, emotionally and financially. Mark 16:15 "And he said unto them, 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.'" We are called to “be on mission” (be missionaries) wherever we are and at this time we believe He has called us to be in Peru sharing this message.
Core Values
The first core value of our ministry is encouraging and assisting the Peruvian Christians in their outreach programs which will serve as an evangelical tool in sowing, nurturing, and reaping the harvest. Everything we do has that focus.
The second core value of our ministry is researching avenues of employment and housing, to assist the young adult women in the orphanage and shelter as they matriculate back into their own community. Making room for other women who need the safe environment to become healthy emotionally, physically and spiritually will be accomplished.
Statement of Faith
Our HOPE is in Jesus Christ. We want to bring hope to the Peruvian Christians as they share HOPE in their communities. We desire to serve Jesus Christ in this way so that we can "bring Him glory by completing the work He has given us to do.” John 17:4
The inerrancy of the Holy Bible - The scriptures, which include the Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired and represent the infallible and authoritative word of God in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)
Belief in one true God - There is one eternal God, existent in three persons - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22)
Jesus Christ – fully God and Man, the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.
Born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31-35) Lived a Sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; Hebrews 4:15)
Died on the Cross to atone for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Bodily rose from the dead (Acts 1:9; Acts 2:32; Hebrews 1:3)
Now sits at the right hand of His Father (Acts 2:33; Hebrews 10:12)
He will return to earth in power and glory (Matthew 24:27; Revelation 19:11-14)
Salvation - Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace through faith when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and we are cleansed from sin through repentance and regeneration of the Holy Spirit. (John 3:3; Luke 24:46-47; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11-12; Titus 3:5-7; John 6:63)
The Holy Spirit - our abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide, indwells and empowers every believer in Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:11; Romans 8:26-27; John 15:26; John 14:16-17; Isaiah 61:1, Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:10)

Updated Plans
Our original “Special Edition” Newsletter stated “The plan” (beginning in early 2009) to be as follows:
“Settling in and beginning to work (volunteer) in a foreign land, will be a challenge. Maintaining family relationships and friendships via internet or skype will be another challenge. The plan is assist the Peruvian Christians in their AWANA/OANSA clubs, research ways they can support themselves, and to help the women of the shelter find ways to earn a living and become self-sufficient and move back into their own community.”
Our prayer and financial partners have asked that we share in more detail where this plan came from, how we will be working it, and the timeframe we are considering.
First, when we were considering full-time ministry, we found the Lord continually showed us ways He was already using us in Peru. We recognized the spiritual gifts of administration, encouragement, helps and discernment were acknowledged by the Peruvian Christians and by the leadership and co-workers in New Covenant Creation Ministries. Why in Peru rather than Duluth? We are in the season of life where our attention to family needs has changed. We were individually drawn, on separate occasions, by the Holy Spirit, to serve in this part of the world. It became clear that this was the time to make ourselves available to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Peru. Although the main focus of NCCM is evangelism and that is not our gift, we believe that we are all called to go and tell our story to those who will listen.
Originally we thought we would be working in areas of NCC Ministry. Joy planned to work in the Peru NCCM Office with Alex Compton and help in the ESOL classes led by his wife Holly. With the recent need for NCCM to restructure the leadership, the depletion of financial support for the Comptons, and the loss of confidence many partners have with the ministry, we recognized the area of ministry would need to change. The Comptons are returning to the states so there will be no NCCM Peru Office and no ESOL classes. Don initially planned to finish a work we began. This is still our personal desire, and feel it is what the Lord would have us spend our time and efforts doing.
The work that Don began is purchasing churches and starting AWANA clubs in the sectors. This has been accomplished through prayer and sharing the needs with the Christians here in the USA. However, if we can teach them to fish, they will never be hungry. So, our challenge is to research opportunities for the little churches to become self-sufficient in their communities and outreach programs.
We will be focusing on language school beginning February 16, 2009 for four months. Upon completion of that goal, we plan to find an apartment and start up a home office for the purpose of doing research in the area of small businesses for the Peruvian Christians to begin with the goal of financing their outreach (AWANA) programs, and in some individual cases, to finance life outside the shelter or orphanage.
NCCM has an orphanage that cannot legally retain residents who reach the age of 18. However, the children are not ready to be on their own, some many not even have a high school education. College is a dream, for those who live in the orphanage. NCCM also has a battered women’s shelter for mothers and children. Unemployment is about __% and those who do work, face 12 hour days, 6 days a week as a standard work week. Therefore, for a young adult, or woman to move back into their own community from the safe environment offered by NCCM, it would be detrimental to their well being. They need to have a source of income to maintain life without turning to the streets, or worse still, to the men in their lives who abused them initially. To date, there is no matriculation plan for these women. It has not been researched and addressed. We see this as a definite need. Beginning a cottage industry or researching job-share opportunities for the young adult to work 6 hour days and go to school 6 hours a day or for the mother to work 6 hours a day and still have time at home with her children would prove beneficial for all. It would help break the cycle of life they experience outside the safety of the living environment NCCM provides. It would also provide more room in the orphanage and shelter to take in new residents.
Our desire is to give hope to these Peruvian Christians, by assisting them in obtaining a quality of life beyond what they presently expect. Finding employment opportunities will greatly enhance them individually, as family units, and their little congregations and church outreach programs. If we can participate in advancing their expectations, then they will become a brighter light for the Lord in their own communities.
Please see our attached “statement of faith” for serving in Peru.

Life: A journey; an adventure with God!
“Special Edition” Newsletter
The plan -- We all have one. Or at least we should. Our parents and those in our family before them all had plans. Plans to go to school, get a job, go to college, get a better job, buy a car, get married, pay off college loans, build some credit, have children, advance in our job, buy a house, and so on. And, as time goes on, we adjust the plan. We fine tune the plan. We try to rework the plan. We plan vacations, for insurance, for savings and even retirement. Now were talking! During the years we plan to volunteer and serve in our communities and in our church. This is what life is all about.
Our plan -- We had reached the season where the plan included paying off the mortgage, getting the credit cards paid off, and retiring in the near future. It included serving in our community and in our church. The plan was for Don to continue working with NCCM in Peru throughout the year, while Joy remained at Bridgeway Christian Academy. Our plan was working just fine. We would work our plan until Joy retired. Later in life we would plan to serve the Lord in Peru together.
His plan -- We felt called to serve the Lord in both Bridgeway Church and Christian Academy and in mission work in Peru. After all, this worked in our plan as well. But, the door was closed at the school for Joy and our plans became null and void. What was His plan? The search was on! Through prayer, counsel of Godly men, and affirmation of fellow Christians, His plan became clear. We felt confident He was calling us to relocate to Peru and serve Him there – now – not later in life.
Our plan -- We are in the process of liquidating our home, furnishings, and assets, with the intention of moving to Peru early in 2009. We plan to go to an immersion language school for 3-4 months which will enable us to get a grasp of the Spanish language to better work side by side with the Peruvian Christians in their community. The spiritual gifts bestowed upon us by our Father point us in the direction of administration and support of the local church and its programs. This will be our focus in San Juan de Lurigancho, Peru.
The plan -- Settling in and beginning to work (volunteer) in a foreign land, will be a challenge. Maintaining family relationships and friendships via internet and skype will be another challenge. The plan is to do just that. Beyond that plan, we cannot comprehend at this point in time.
