Plans -

New Covenant TEAM Missions
Life: A journey; an adventure with God!
“Special Edition” Newsletter

The plan -- We all have one. Or at least we should. Our parents and those in our family before them all had plans. Plans to go to school, get a job, go to college, get a better job, buy a car, get married, pay off college loans, build some credit, have children, advance in our job, buy a house, and so on. And, as time goes on, we adjust the plan. We fine tune the plan. We try to rework the plan. We plan vacations, for insurance, for savings and even retirement. Now were talking! During the years we plan to volunteer and serve in our communities and in our church. This is what life is all about.

Our plan -- We had reached the season where the plan included paying off the mortgage, getting the credit cards paid off, and retiring in the near future. It included serving in our community and in our church. The plan was for Don to continue working with NCCM in Peru throughout the year, while Joy remained at Bridgeway Christian Academy. Our plan was working just fine. We would work our plan until Joy retired. Later in life we would plan to serve the Lord in Peru together.

His plan -- We felt called to serve the Lord in both Bridgeway Church and Christian Academy and in mission work in Peru. After all, this worked in our plan as well. But, the door was closed at the school for Joy and our plans became null and void. What was His plan? The search was on! Through prayer, counsel of Godly men, and affirmation of fellow Christians, His plan became clear. We felt confident He was calling us to relocate to Peru and serve Him there – now – not later in life.

Our plan -- We are in the process of liquidating our home, furnishings, and assets, with the intention of moving to Peru early in 2009. We plan to go to an immersion language school for 3-4 months which will enable us to get a grasp of the Spanish language to better work side by side with the Peruvian Christians in their community. The spiritual gifts bestowed upon us by our Father point us in the direction of administration and support of the local church and its programs. This will be our focus in San Juan de Lurigancho, Peru.

The plan -- Settling in and beginning to work (volunteer) in a foreign land, will be a challenge. Maintaining family relationships and friendships via internet and skype will be another challenge. The plan is to do just that. Beyond that plan, we cannot comprehend at this point in time.
